City Cognac – the pride of France

Incredibly beautiful and forever young France has always attracted and continues to attract the attention of a huge number of people. This country has its irresistible charm, and its cosmopolitanism, amazing culture of different eras and bold modernity cannot go unnoticed. Champs Elysees, Eiffel Tower, Versailles, Notre Dame Cathedral … Of course, this is only the beginning of a long list of sights of France.

Every educated person knows about the main sights and unique places of this country, but in France there is a very small corner, which is so rich in individual cultural features that it can overshadow any other country in the world. This is a small town whose name speaks for itself – this is the incomparable city of Cognac France.

Today we are used to believing that “brandy” is a common noun. For someone, cognac is just a drink, for someone – a lifestyle, and for someone, perhaps – its purpose (for example, for winemakers). And in fact, this word refers to a small French town on the river bank, widely known for its excellent alcoholic beverages. So, it turns out, “Cognac” is also a proper name. This proud title, without a doubt, is known to every reader, because this is the name of one of the most elite alcoholic beverages in the world. Yes, it is this place that is home to the magnificent French cognac, which today adorns the tables of the whole world. This is the great city of France producing cognac.

One glance at the map is enough to understand that Cognac is a very small city. You can get around on foot along and across in just a few hours. And the population here is sparse: only about 20 thousand people live in Cognac. But the whole world speaks with trepidation, respect and respect about this small French town, and it is not surprising! In addition to the fact that cognac is produced by everyone in this city, one can see a great many beautiful places, architectural monuments, and natural landscapes, which all tourists and visitors of the city admire with admiration.

So, having seen Paris, which is the wrong, most trampled place on earth, it is impossible to die, because there is also Cognac, which is really worth a visit! This is what we are going to do today – let’s see, albeit virtually, at the most significant places of the city, at its sights, at the sight of which it is breathtaking. I suggest you, dear readers, splash into a glass a little French brandy, which is probably hidden in your bar, and delve into the culture and features of a small, but such beautiful and incredibly significant city of France.

Location of the city
If you came to France with the intention to visit the homeland of your favorite alcoholic drink, then you will not be able to explore Cognac, as they say. It is necessary to reach this city intentionally, as it is located somewhat apart, as a separate piece of paradise. From Paris – the favorite of all foreign tourists – to Cognac somewhere around 450 kilometers.

The city of Cognac France is located in the department of Charente, 44 kilometers from the French city of Angouleme, 15 kilometers from Jarnac and 29 kilometers from Saint. Cognac stands proudly on the Charente River for many millennia, with most of the city located on the left bank of this river. Long ago, the Charente River was used for commercial navigation, but with the advent of the 20th century and the advent of faster modes of transport, the Charente became a beautiful natural monument.

Today Charente is popular among visitors to the city, it is used for river tourism. The fairway of the river was completely restored right down to the city of Angouleme. By the way, thanks to this magnificent river, the economy and industry of the French town called Cognac received rapid development. Perhaps, if Cognac had not stood on Charente, we would never have tried one of the most amazing French spirits.

Looking at the city from a bird’s eye view, you will see a huge number of beautiful well-groomed vineyards surrounding it. And here at last you understand the seriousness of the situation, realize the great importance of this tiny town in the economy of the whole country. One thing is surprising – how such a tiny place could turn into the strongest producer of alcoholic drink, which the whole world drinks, but at the same time keep its quiet, provincial little world! In Russia, in such a case, they usually say: “Mal zolotnik, yes roads!”
